Here are several reasons I recommend a Harry Potter DVD video over the VHS version:
Some people love watching movies in the original Widescreen version and modern televisions seem to be moving in that direction with various companies offering Widescreen machines. As for durability, you have to be careful handling the DVDs so they do not get scratched but, overall, the DVD is a lot more durable than a VHS tape. Most people agree about the sharper video on DVD. I am not sure exactly why but every time I watch a movie on VHS and then watch the same movie on DVD, the DVD version is noticably sharper. This may simply be due to the VHS tape wearing out the more it is watched. When buying a Harry Potter DVD video you will find the DVD often offers Behind the Scenes, Special Features, and Deleted Scenes. Sometimes it is as much fun to watch the Deleted Scenes on a DVD as it is to watch the movie! VHS was great in its day but I feel its time is over. DVD is here and things can only get better. Already some DVDs are providing forms of interaction and I think this is something we will see more of as time passes and technology continues to improve. Why not do your own comparison? Simply visit your local video rental shop and rent one of the Harry Potter movies on VHS and watch it. Now rent a Harry Potter DVD video and see how it compares.
