In the USA the book was released under the name Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

The book was originally released in the UK under the name Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

Harry Potter was barely a year old when he was laid on the doorstep of number four, Privet Drive; the home of Petunia Dursley, the last known relative of this orphaned baby. Harry lived with his Aunt Petunia, Uncle Vernon, and their son Dudley for ten miserable years.

On the event of Harry’s eleventh birthday he is introduced to the world of Wizardry, quite against his Aunt and Uncle’s will. He is sent to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. From the moment the school year begins, Harry is sent on one adventure after another. Harry finds himself facing all sort of amazing magical creatures, such as centaurs, trolls, and a three-headed dog. He also learns much about his Mom and Dad, his mysterious past, and his defeat of “The Dark Lord”.

The school year draws to close and Harry is on the train back to the Dursley’s and back to a different life for the summer apart from his two best friends, Hermione Granger and Ronald Weasley. In one year Harry learns the value of friendship, who he is, and a small piece of what his future will look like.
